~ I Brought You Here ~
I brought you here in the soft morning light wishing for your life to be perfect.
Soft rose petal lips breathed sighs of contentment on my neck.
White curled fingers gripped and clung like little wild
vines twining around my own. Holding on so tight, afraid to let go.
Too soon your arms were flung wide and you are spinning in the wind. No longer in fear of letting go, but in an embracement of life.
Watching you was both bittersweet and beautiful.
A golden ponytail that swung and bounced on that first day of school. You proudly carried all of your hopes and dreams in your little shoes.
I brought you here never to be hurt or cry in sadness, but only for all that was beautiful, for all that was perfect, and for all that you deserved.
And in your innocence you went on and grew, and did, and hurt , and cried.
When you looked up at me that first morning, there was wisdom in your eyes, as if to say: " It's okay Mommy. I'll be all right ~ because you brought me here. "
